In the 1920s when long silk ties of delicate silk fabric became popular the Tie Clip succeeded the Tiepin (which pinned through the fabric and could spoil it) the Tie Clip went out of fashion at the end of 1960s however made a huge comeback at the start of the 21st Century.
A Tie Clip is the only piece of jewellery permissible while in military dress.

Signed by: Stratton who were British makers of quality vanity accessories including cufflinks and Tie Clips for 70s years until 1997.
Slider style with balloon clip design gold tone metal. 2 ¾” (7cm) in length.
Complete in original box which measures box 3 “x 2 ‘(8cm x 5.3 cm)
