Let me introduce you to this beautiful original 1940s dress so special and in great condition. I don’t have the back story for this dress, however after seeing many 1940s dresses this is beautifully made in fabulous black moss crepe fabric with glass beading. The tiny cover buttons have been restored, on the front side hem there is a hole which has not gone through to hem fabric behind it repair to this. On these vintage dresses the make do and mend repairs are part of their story and do not spoil the dress or wearing of it.
 
Fabric: Black moss crepe with tiny black faceted glass beads.
 
Style: A classic cleverly and beautifully cut 1940s dress for a Special Occasion.
 
Features: A deep three-quarter cut sleeve with a beautiful, ruched detail 4 ½” (11.5cm) at the hem. The front bodice is cut in to with a centre front seam, with two hand beaded panels sewn into the shoulder seam, centre front seam below the deep ‘V’ neckline and the shaped waist panel. Tiny cover buttons are sewn onto the centre front seam and waist panel. The centre back bodice and skirt are both cut in once piece with two darts lining up at the waist seem. The front skirt is cut in four shaped panels with two swags of beaded fabric hanging loose over the hips and seamed into the side seam and angled into the front panels, which tie up beautifully with the beading on the bodice. If the neckline shows any cleavage then the wearer should wear a straight across black slip if they want to be true to the decade. 
 
Closure: 9 " (23 cm) metal zip down the side seam. The neck is low to assist with getting the dress on.
 
Ideal to wear for: A special occasion or evening dress that can be beautifully accessorised with forties or fifties hat gloves and a bag and even a fitted coat, please see photos for styling ideas.
