Fabric: Pale blue grey light weight wool with pale blue acetate lining.
Style: Princess line tailored panelled wool coat with wide lapels, curved pockets and Shoulder pads
Features: A stunning example of a 1940s panelled coat, the lapels and curved pockets have been beautifully top stitched to create a subtle feature. The forties style was all about the shoulder and nipped in waist to recreate the military look and this coat ticks all the boxes of forties styling, with small pleats at the top of the sleeves over the shoulder pads, even the colour is RAF blue grey. The back is stunning made of six shaped top stitched panels which give a real waist look and gentle flair to the hem line.
Closure: Three swirl blue Bakelite buttons run from the end of the lapel to just below the waistline.
Ideal to wear for: A forties event or vintage event
Blouse shown with coat is not included, it is for sale in our ladies Tops collection.
Vintage Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition: I don’t want to categorise this coat as flawed however I must point out the moth damage to this beautiful coat of over 8o year old. It has been repaired these are not in the sight line but are around the hem and by the pocket.
- 8 inches up from hem both sides of the front panels
- To the right of the left-hand pocket
- 1 ½ inches from hem line at back
- The button had been moved for someone smaller so has left a bit of stress on the fabric at this point near left bust.
Vintage items are not new they date back to a particular era, some have survived in amazing condition, while others may show some
signs of age but we feel they still deserve to make it into our collection. Therefore, we have listed our items into three Conditions:
Mint Vintage Condition: Means the item although Vintage is
unworn and good as the day it was made.
Excellent Vintage Condition: Means the item is in great shape for its age. (Most of our stock will fall into this category)
Flawed Vintage Condition: Means the item is wearable but does
have some repair, mark or damage. The flaws will be described.
